Fabled Blue Mountains tourist attraction, the Scenic Railway, operated in its current form for the final time this past weekend. The train, which has been in operation as an attraction since 1945 after being transformed from a mining train, is now undergoing a redesign, with a new Swiss-designed train being installed. The new attraction is expected to be open before the midway point of 2013, when it will again welcome passengers on its famous 52-degree journey up and down its mountain home at Scenic World in Katoomba.
