Star Alliance re-initiates membership process for Air IndiaStar Alliance ceo Mark Schwab has just announced plans for Air India to once again move towards alliance membership.The decision was made in Vienna this morning at the Star Alliance Chief Executive Board meeting, with the move seen as addressing a major "white spot" in the Star Alliance map, in one of the fastest growing aviation markets in the world.Air India had previously been invited to join the alliance in 2007, but after repeated delays due to technology issues and structural changes within the carrier the application was suspended in July 2011.However now the Star Alliance board is confident that Air India has made "important strides," Schwab said, with the "very strong management team at Star Alliance to work with the Air India team to integrate it into Star at the earliest occasion possible.
