TD breaking news – Etihad revamps fare structure

New ‘Fare Choices’ allow guests to tailor economy and business class selections.

Etihad has just announced a new fare concept, with eight options covering economy, business and first class which vary by flexibility, baggage allowance, miles earned and inclusions such as priority check-in, upgrade eligibility and chauffeur service.

In economy class there are Economy Breaking Deals (25% Etihad Guest miles, one 23kg bag, no flexibility or refund); Economy Saver (50% miles, one 23kg bag, date changes for a fee); Economy Value (75% miles, two bags, date changes and refunds for a fee); and Economy Freedom (100% miles, two 23kg bags, priority check-in and free date changes and refunds).

The new business class fare structure includes Business Breaking Deals (115% miles, two 32kg bags, no date changes or refunds, no chauffeur drive); Business Saver (130% miles, two 32kg bags, date changes and refunds for a fee; chauffeur drive); and Business Freedom (175% miles, two 32kg bags, free date changes and refunds; and chauffeur drive).

And Etihad’s First Freedom fares include 250% miles, two 32kg, free date changes and refunds and chauffeur drive.

Etihad chief commercial officer Peter Baumgartner said: “Ultimately this is about providing choice. In most industries there is a move towards allowing customers to tailor and customise their experience, and ours is no different”.

Etihad’s Fare Choices will apply to all bookings made on or after 14 September 2015 whether purchased from a travel agent, EY contact centre or via the carrier’s website.
