Africa biofuel flights

SOUTH African Airways (SAA) and its low cost subsidiary Mango flew Africa’s first biofuel passenger flights this week. Around 300 pax flew on the SAA and Mango flights from Johannesburg to Cape Town on Boeing 737-800s which were using 30% aviation biofuel. The initiative is part of Project Solaris, named after the energy tobacco plant used to produce the fuel. “SAA is committed to a sustainable future and this highlights the steps we are taking,” SAA chief operating officer Musa ...
