World Expeditions releases 2011/2012 inspiring Active Adventures
World Expeditions has just released its 2011/2012 Active Adventures program that gives active travellers the choice of over 200 incredible adventures all over the globe. With 40 new itineraries that include Myanmar, Taiwan & Tajikistan, as well as an opportunity to trek the Great Himalaya Trail, the newest and highest continuous walking trail in Nepal – the World Expeditions line up of adventures continues to trail blaze.
“Our active program carries our key philosophies of getting off the beaten track and producing ground-breaking, innovative itineraries that fit in with our core value of sustainable travel,” says World Expeditions CEO Sue Badyari.
“The new Active program features new trips such as the Haa Valley Walk in Bhutan and the Red Ape Trail in Borneo, where travellers have the opportunity to explore our magnificent planet in an active and interactive way. Also, a big bonus of the Active Adventures program is the opportunities to trek with some of the world’s most acclaimed adventurers including Simon Yates, Lincoln Hall, Sorrel Wilby, Tim Macartney Snape and Tim Cope”, says Sue.
For 35 years Active Adventures has featured a range of product that is designed to inspire, and the program continues to include perennial favorites such as trekking the Inca trail, Hike and Bike China and the best of Southern Africa.
We are also proud to announce an important development in our Everest region treks,” says Badyari. We have leased land and developed a series of permanent campsites which continue with our philosophy of offering camping treks which is the most sustainable type of trekking. The settings of the permanent campsites are stunning – away from the busy trails – with beautiful views out to the worlds tallest mountains. The comfort levels for our travellers will increase as a result of the construction of a permanent dining room with cushioned seating and a pot belly stove that is fueled by yak dung to warm the room. There are no smoke emissions in the room as the chimney carries it outside. There is also an ablution block at each site with western style flush toilets.
“This development also means that our clients can enjoy the advantages of trekking with a local crew and know that they are contributing directly to the local economy and not in any way to the major deforestation problem in the region that has occurred with the growth in lodge and tea house treks. Our clients consistently give feedback on how much they enjoy the camaraderie of a camping trek, and we are glad to keep giving this to them,” says World Expeditions CEO Sue Badyari.
