Topdeck records 50% growth in Australia and New Zealand
Youth specialist Topdeck has recorded an almost 50% rise in Australia and New Zealand sales, prompting it to ramp up departures and add new trips to its 2012/13 brochure.
The brochure, which also features Fiji for the first time, consists of 33 trips, 6500 departure dates and more inclusions like a full day 4WD adventure on Fraser Island.
Topdeck Asia Pacific sales manager Ben Ittensohn said sales across Australia and New Zealand had risen by 48.7% to date this year compared to last year and more trips and departure dates had been added to meet demand.
“Topdeck has experienced excellent growth in the region due to the frequency of our departures, comprehensive routes, strong brand and post arrival internationals seeing the value in our trips,” he said.
“Our geographic footprint in Australia and New Zealand is huge – we are the only youth operator to have all the major touring routes covered and departure dates for our Australia trips have literally doubled, with up to 3 departures a week on many routes.
“Not only are we seeing excellent growth but we have the capacity to handle it.”
New Australia trips include the 10-day Adelaide to Perth from $1495* per person and 9-day Perth to Adelaide from $1350* which both feature surfing lessons, and the 3-day Top to Bottom from Sydney to Melbourne which travels along the Barry Way along the Snowy River from $375*.
More departures have been added to itineraries including the 11-day Down South and Outback, which now departs at least twice a week and travels from Melbourne to Alice Springs and offers exclusive experiences like an Aboriginal ‘Mala’ interpretive walk at Uluru.
East Coast trips now include a visit to Noosa and a full day 4WD adventure on Fraser Island, while two new day trips to the Blue Mountains and Hunter Valley have also been added to the program.
In Fiji, the 6-day Coconuts and Cocktails travels through Nadi, Mango, Uprising and Volivoli Beach and includes a sevusevu ceremony and visits to traditional local villages from $925* per person. The 10-day Fijian Fantasy follows the same route but includes 3 days on secluded Mantaray Island from $1399*.
“Fiji is now a stopover destination for European backpackers on their way to Australia and New Zealand, and it’s a well serviced route for Aussies and New Zealanders,” Mr Ittensohn said. “It’s an exciting inclusion to our program which we think will be very popular.”
Eight New Zealand trips feature in the brochure including the 9-day Pure Adrenalin from $1345* and 16-day Grand Kiwi from $1995*, both which include an overnight cruise on Milford Sound.
“Topdeck is the only youth tour operator which offers twin share overnight stays on Milford Sound,” Mr Ittensohn said.
“Additionally, our trips now feature two nights to explore the nation’s capital Wellington so passengers can visit Weta Workshop – the studio behind the spectacular special effects of The Lord of the Rings films.”
Topdeck is offering 5% off the trip price for itineraries booked and paid six months in advance and 10% off for trips booked and paid 12 months in advance. Other discounts are available and can be combined up to the value of 15%.
