Topdeck safaris in to Africa
Youth travel brand Topdeck is journeying in to Africa for the first time with 20 overland trips featuring gorilla trekking, game drives in search of the ‘Big Five’ and encounters with local tribes.
The itineraries, part of the new Africa 2012/13 brochure, range from 7 to 58 days and travel overland through jungles, savannah and coastlines.
“Africa is the stuff travel dreams are made of and Topdeck is very excited to launch a new global program through this thrilling continent,” Topdeck sales manager Ben Ittensohn said.
“We are the only youth brand operating trips for 18 to 39 year olds through Africa, which means those who choose us will be travelling with a group of like-minded companions who share the same desire to explore and experience the best of Africa.
“These are our most exciting trips ever, giving travellers the chance to wake up amongst the wildlife with National Park stays across Africa and meet the Big Five – lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and leopard. These trips are fantastic value for money and with the continued strength of the Australia dollar against the US, Africa will be big in 2012.”
Topdeck is offering a 10% discount on the trip price when booked and paid 6 months in advance, as well as 5% discounts for past passengers and for four friends who book and travel together.
Trips include the 14-day Gorilla Encounter through Kenya and Uganda, which includes tracking chimpanzees at Kyambura Gorge and an optional trek to Kampala to see a family of gorillas in the wild from $1521* per person.
The 7-day African Insight travels through South Africa, Botswana and Zambia including the spectacular Victoria Falls from $793*; while the 22-day Zanzibar, Victoria Falls & Kruger travels through South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi and Tanzania with highlights including Kruger National Park from $2008*.
Topdeck’s longest trip, the epic 58-day Ultimate Africa Overlander, journeys from Kenya to South Africa and everywhere in between from $5151*.
Highlights include Lake Nakuru National Park and its famous flamingos, a game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park, an optional gorilla trek, a visit to a local Maasai village, a three day excursion into the Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park, three days on Spice Island – home to serene white beaches and tropical blue waters – and a visit to the traditional bushmen in the Kalahari Desert.
All trips features group sizes of no more than 24 people and travel overland in state of the art, fully equipped safari trucks which include lockers, power points and a freezer.
Guests will stay in comfy camping in spacious two-person dome tents with thick foam mattresses. Many meals are also included.
“The word safari means journey, and in our opinion a safari is the way Africa is meant to be seen,” Mr Ittensohn said.
“We have very loyal travellers who have explored Europe, Egypt, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand with us, and we hope they will come back to Topdeck to experience the magic of Africa.”
